Since 2014, Laird Elliott has been sole proprietor of Preneur Consulting Services, an advisory firm that supports Canadian entrepreneurs in the financial services industry in their efforts to increase profitability through revenue growth and enhanced operational efficiency. Prior to founding his advisory firm, he held several executive positions at reputed mutual fund companies and MGAs- namely Winfund Software Corp., Worldsource Financial Management and Mackenzie Financial Corporation.
- As one of the founders of Worldsource Financial Management, he managed the growth of the company from 6 local financial advisors to 360 advisors across Canada.
- As Executive Projects Consultant, he assisted Mackenzie’s CEO in developing and implementing the firm’s five-year strategic plan.
- He holds the Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA, CA) designation and a BA in Political Science and Economics from the University of Toronto.
- As a member of the Institute of Corporate Directors, he holds an ICD.D certification having completed the Directors Education Program at Rotman School of Business.
During his tenure as CEO of Winfund, he spearheaded the development and national distribution of the firm’s advanced back-office software designed for mutual fund dealers and Managing General Agencies. In addition to his extensive knowledge in corporate finance, mergers and acquisitions, as well as business start-ups and turnarounds, Laird brings to the Equisoft Board of Directors a wealth of experience in the distribution of financial services products and software in highly regulated environments, as well as strong strategic and operational skills focused on client and revenue growth.
